Hi Everyone,
It's been SO LONG since I've posted.  In the last six months, I finished my degree, moved to a completely strange state (MI to SC -- crazy!), and met an entirely new and wonderful group of dancers. 

Layla of Layali Layla Dance Co. took me under her wing and at her invitation I'll be teaching a Modern Arabic Dance series at Mauldin Sports Center starting January 8.  Check it out below!  Layla is a really fantastic dancer, and we have a duet in the works for a show in 2013.  That's right!  With the help of Ra'essah Ra'naa, another amazing SC dancer, we'll be showing Greenville our moves.  So friends old and new, stay tuned!

I'll never stop loving the thrill of the spotlight, but teaching is where the true exchange is in this dance.  No matter where you go, belly dancers are amazing!  I've found the women I met here sweet, fun, and inspiring.  They make me miss my MI gals!  It's wonderful how our love of this dance helps build community among women from very different backgrounds.  So wherever you are, go connect with your dance gals and dance your way into a wonderful 2013!

What's a girl to do?

Hey all,
Thanks to all the dancers and friends who came out for my Hafla last Friday!  I had SUCH a good time and the dancing was just beautiful.  I can't wait to get a copy of the video.  For those of you who couldn't make it -- don't worry, you're not rid of me yet!  I may be leaving Michigan in a few months, but I'll be back to visit, dance, and even teach a workshop here and there.  I have learned so much from performing and teaching -- especially teaching.  Working with my students has made me a better dancer.  Thank you all for that!

Summer Hafla

Last night, my Kenville students and I performed at the annual Kenville Showcase as part of the Spanish Ballet.  Ballet, flamenco, and belly dance!  FUN! 

Because of vacation plans, I won't be offering any more classes this summer, but I will be available for private lessons and coaching, and I'll look forward to hanging out at the next A2 Hafla on June 29!
